Cloudy Seascape – iPad Painting

As you may see from various images on the site, I love clouds. These here were painted on an iPad with the Procreate app. I took an image I shot in the morning on my commute to work for light and color reference.

For this painting I used a Nomad capacitive brush instead of a regular stylus. That sure makes a big difference for this kind of painting. The oil brushes I used look a lot more realistic due to the flow of the hand when painting with a soft and bending brush tip.

Although the Nomad is not pressure sensitive, the Procreate speed, size and falloff variety settings ensure quite satisfying results.

The sea waves were also painted with special Procreate Brushes, using varying oapacity and size settings.
