Ring Pull Tin: Army Style

As I am trying to work through the heap of stuff I haven’t published yet, here comes the Army style ring pull tin.

When my wife’s back then boss quit his position as head of the school she works at, the language teachers wanted to give him a special goodbye present. So they got him two nice vouchers for a relaxing day in a luxury spa.

Now, as putting these vouchers just in an envelope is quite boring, I took over the job to make something special out of that. As he was a higher ranking guy in the Swiss Army, I decided on re-creating some kind of a Army suit for that tin.

The badge contains the standard german grammatical reference in the middle (the Duden book) and says “honor guild regiment 1, German expert team”.

The whole thing was done on a Mac (in case you thought I really had hand sewn it), and I even did that badge with all the stitches in Photoshop. Was quite a lot of work, but very satisfying to experiment with all the problems i encountered in creating realistic stitching, embroidering and treads.

I think it turned out quite well, and the result looked even better in real than it does in these pictures.
