Driftwood Fish

I got this piece of driftwood from our friends Brigitte and Helmut in Corsica. They thought it looked like a snake or fish. Which I thought was very much so. Well, I then went on and brought out the fish head and body, leaving part of the branch untouched so the contrast of the carved and raw wood shows more.

My main attention was on the head and neck, with a little top body work.

I then added some dark acrylic paint with a white highlight for the eye to make it more convincing. Below there’s a closeup of the rear part too.

Finally all the carved wood got a sandpaper and wax treatment to make the contrast even bigger.
